Your drive to Wee Jasper from the highway is an experience in itself as it takes you through a changing landscape full of history, that is also one of the most diverse geological areas in Australia, through fantastic belts of limestone millions of years old.
As the roads winds towards Wee Jasper, panoramic views of the Murrumbidgee and Goodradigbee valleys and Burrinjuck Dam unfold. You'll also be passing some of Australia's finest sheep and cattle properties.
Whether travelling on your own, with your family and friends or with a large group you will be captivated by the striking geological formations, great natural beauty of the surrounding hills, the Goodradigbee flowing the length of the valley, a myriad of wildlife and flora and overall rural tranquillity.
Do as much or as little as you like on your visit. Take a hands-on guided cave or fossil tour and learn about our ancient seascape. Explore the bush, visit the wild caves or go fishing. There are many beautiful picnic spots along the Goodradigbee River and Micalong Creek. Indulge your taste buds, paint a picture, dip your toes in the cool mountain waters or just relax and enjoy.
Carey's Cave is a magnificent cave system that comprises a series of beautiful, naturally sculpted chambers containing a great wealth of crystal formations. As the paths are well-lit and have a minimum of steps, visitors of all ages can experience guided tours which are both enjoyable and educational
Cooradigbee Fossil Tours - explore the 400 million year old sea bed that was once a shallow tropical habitat for prehistoric shells, corals, armour plated "Placoderms" and early Lung fish. Tours and inspection of the Cooradigbee Fossil Collection by appointment only.
Mountain Trails Adventure School - a non-profit, Christian Outdoor Education Campsite near Canberra and Yass in the northern section of the Brindabella Ranges. We desire to see our campers go home having had challenging, life changing experiences. We offer a variety of programs such as: Outdoor Education Programs; Holiday Camps; Horse Specialty Programs; Youth at Risk Programs; Horse Treks.
Wee Jasper Reserves - Giving you access to the beautiful Goodradigbee River and Micalong Creek. Get up close to the local wildlife, go fishing, go bush, relax. There's always somewhere new to explore.
The Stables Tavern - a unique bush pub in the original c1880 police lock-up - with restaurant and cabin accommodation available. Internet connection available. **Please note The Stables is closed until 1 October 08**
The Hume & Hovell Walking Track
Hume and Hovell Walking Track. Follow the footsteps of intrepid explorers Hamilton Hume and William Hovell all the way from Yass to Albury via Wee Jasper.
